Southwest Virginia Legal Aid Society (SVLAS) is a private, non-profit law firm. We provide free civil legal services to low-income families in southwestern Virginia. Services range from advice and counseling to brief service to representation in court proceedings or administrative hearings. You may be eligible if your household has a low income. Depending on your individual circumstances, you may be eligible if your gross family income is below 200% of the federal poverty level.

Mission Statement: Southwest Virginia Legal Aid Society (SVLAS) is a 501(c)(3) organization established to provide free, high-quality civil legal services to the low-income residents of seventeen counties and four cities in southwestern Virginia. It is the mission of SVLAS to champion equal justice for low-income Virginians and to work to remedy the conditions that burden the low-income community. To these ends, we strive: · to provide high quality, courteous, and effective legal services to low-income families and individuals facing serious threats to their personal, economic or family stability and · to work with others to identify and respond to problems faced by those in the low-income community within our region.
