Legal Aid Society of Eastern Virginia provides free legal services in civil matters to qualifying low-income Virginians. Our mission is to promote the equal application of justice and remove impediments to fairness for the low-income and vulnerable families of eastern Virginia. We strive to both meet the individual legal needs of our clients and to challenge systemic injustice and the root causes of poverty and inequality. We represent in many types of civil matters including landlord/tenant, public benefits, domestic violence, family law, consumer law, collections, estate planning, education and other civil rights and discrimination matters.
There are three ways to apply for services: on-line, by contacting our Central Intake unit, and in-person at a local service office. Locally, Central Intake can be reached at (757) 827-5078, or toll-free at (866) LEGL-AID.
Our offices are open to the public from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday - Friday. We are closed for holidays and weekends.
