The mission of the Legal Aid Society is to pursue justice for people in poverty. We provide free legal services to the most disadvantaged in our community. We fight on your behalf when your health, safety, and stability are unjustly threatened.
The first thing you should do is call the Legal Aid Society at (502) 584-1254 to see if we can help you. Our services are free, but you must qualify first. When you call our office, you will be asked questions about where you live, your income, and your legal problem. If you qualify for our services, we will schedule an appointment for you with one of our attorneys or paralegals who will review the merits of your case. Please keep in mind we are not able to help with criminal cases.
Our intake line is open during the following hours:
Monday: 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM
Tuesday: 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM
Wednesday: 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM
Thursday: 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM
Applicants may walk-in to our office Monday through Friday from 9 AM to 5 PM to complete a written application. Because the demand for our services is high, our legal staff will not be able to meet with you on the same visit you complete the application. Instead, we will accept your application, review it, and then call you back.
The Legal Aid Society offers our services to residents living in the following counties: Jefferson, Oldham, Trimble, Henry, Shelby, Spencer, Washington, Marion, Nelson, Bullitt, Larue, Hardin, Grayson, Breckinridge, and Meade.
