FREE Legal Assistance

Qualifying low income residents of Miami-Dade County may be eligible for legal assistance from a Dade Legal Aid Staff Attorney or a referral through Put Something Back Pro Bono Project that screens and refers civil matters to a cadre of pro bono attorneys and law firm volunteers. To be eligible, a client must reside in Miami-Dade and their income may not exceed 125 150% of the Federal Poverty Guidelines. An organization may qualify for free services if its purpose is to serve eligible clients or is primarily comprised of eligible clients provided that the project can locate a pro bono attorney to serve of counsel to the group. Many of our attorneys are fluent in multiple languages, so Spanish & Creole speakers are encouraged to apply for assistance. In an effort to ensure legal services and/or the ancillary offerings of Dade Legal Aid are accessible, we offer appropriate auxiliary aids and services at no cost to deaf or hard of hearing clients and companions. If you need a special accommodation/auxiliary aids to participate in our program you may contact Eileen Coto at ecoto@dadelegalaid.org or call 305-579-5733 ext. 2240 to request an accommodation/auxiliary aids to participate.

I do not know where my son's father lives. The father sees him about every 2 weeks but there is nothing in writing. The father will not give me his address or where he takes my son. He has my son since yesterday and because I could not pick him up when he called he is refusing to let me get him today. My son is five years old, his father said he will not take him to school and will decide when I can have him again. My son lives with me all the other time. Please advise..

Important Information

Legal Aid Funding
Legal aid professionals and organizations oftentimes receive government funding for taking on cases with those who cannot afford attorneys. For the most part, funding is limited so legal aid entities can only take on a limited amount of cases. Qualifications are often rigid.
